Dr. Henry King Sr. is a character in The CW and DC Universe series, Stargirl.
Henry is a neurosurgeon at Blue Valley medical center and the didactic father of Henry King Jr.[1]. In secret, he is the powerful supervillain known as, Brainwave, and a member of the Injustice Society of America. His telepathic powers allow him to read and manipulate the minds of others, as well as, inflict immense neurological damages onto his victims with a mere thought.[2]
Biography
Ten years ago, Henry fought alongside his fellow ISA members as Brainwave, in an epic battle against the JSA. During the battle, he faced off against Starman, and the two had a war of mind and will. Brainwave was ultimately knocked down by Starman, who was later impaled by Icicle. After the fight, the ISA disbanded as the JSA was now defeated. Henry went home to his son, Junior, and they lived a seemingly normal life.
Personality
Henry is a cold and abrasive man with little empathy for others. He is a secret member of the Injustice Society of America. His hatred toward Starman blinds his ability to see things clearly. He attacks Courtney and shows no care for her well-being while doing so, as he views her as a threat to his son. This shows a fierce protective nature over his son, despite their strained relationship. His ability to sense what people are feeling and thinking should make him more empathetic, but it only makes him crueler.
Physical Appearance
Henry is a slender man with slick red hair that is parted away from his face. He strongly resembles his son, Henry Jr, with his pale complexion and sharp, prominent features. He wears round-rimmed glasses and black clothing. When fighting as Brainwave, Henry wears his signature suit.
Powers and Abilities
- Telepathy: Henry can read the minds of others and speak to people in their minds. He can also control people's thoughts.
- Telekinesis: Telekinesis is the ability to move objects with one's mind. Henry is an incredibly powerful telepath. His telekinetic abilities allow him to throw tires, drag Courtney, and toss a bus through the air with barely a thought.
- Force Field: Henry can produce a slightly visible force field using his mind. The field allows him to protect himself from various forms of harm. His shield was once weakened and eventually deteriorated by, the Cosmic Staff.

Notes and Trivia
- Christopher James Baker describes the character as, "Brainwave is the true being; Dr. Henry King is a mask".[2]
- Stargirl defeated him after she struck him in the face with the Cosmic Staff. The strike caused Henry's brain to short circuit and cause a seizure of some sort. He is currently in a coma.
- According to Pat, Henry is responsible for the deaths of Johnny Thunder, Hawkman, and Hawkgirl.
