Rick Tyler

Richard "Rick" Tyler is a character in The CW and DC Universe series Stargirl.

Rick is a student at Blue Valley High who mainly stays to himself.

He is the new wielder of the superhero mantle Hourman. He is the son of the original Hourman, Rex Tyler. Like his father, Rick gets his power from a drug called Miraclo, which boosts his strength, speed, agility, and endurance for one hour. The catch is that he can only take one dose of Miraclo per day. Rick also wields an hourglass that shows him visions of events for one hour in the future.^[1]

Biography

Two years ago, Rick's parents died in an accident shortly after they moved to Blue Valley, leaving Rick an orphan.

Personality

Rick is a mysterious teenager with an edge that makes him appear to be borderline dangerous. He often gets in trouble at school and spends most of his time in detention. He takes school-issued products and carves into his desk at detention. He doesn’t talk much unless it is to defend himself.

Physical Appearance

Rick is a handsome, tall, and athletically built teenager with thick, curly, black hair and brown eyes. He wears relaxed clothing such as worn jeans, neutral-toned shirts, and a worn leather jacket.

Powers and Abilities

Abilities via Miraclo: After ingesting a drug called Miraclo, Rick can manifest powers. However, these powers only last for one hour per day.
- Enhanced Strength: Rick can manifest enhanced strength for one-hour per day. During this period, he is stronger than other humans and can lift tons of weight with minimal effort.
- Supernatural Leap:^[2] Rick can jump incredible distances and land safely, covering frighteningly tall heights and long distances. This also means he has extremely strong and durable legs.
Premonition: Through the Hourglass, Rick can have visions of events that happen one-hour into the future.

Weaknesses

One-Hour Limit: The effects of Miraclo last for one-hour per day. For the remaining 23 hours, Rick is unable to generate any enhanced abilities.

Equipment

Hourman Suit: Rick's bronzed super-suit holds more than a little pertinent history for him.^[3]
Hourglass: This hourglass gives Rick limited premonition. He has visions of events that happen one hour into the future.
Miraclo: This drug gives Rick powers for a certain amount of time per day.
